Our brand new, purpose built, baby room is a home from home to provide dedicated care for babies from three months old. Each baby receives individual attention with lots of cuddles, eye contact, smiles and positive verbal communication through words sounds and songs. We nurture babies through a variety of learning opportunities. These include learning to crawl and walk as well as joining in with ‘messy play’ and other stimulating activities suitable for this age group. Babies are also provided with garden time and walks which ensures they receive appropriate opportunities for outdoor play and fresh air.
These rooms area designed to support your child’s rapidly developing skills and physical abilities. We encourage children to learn new words through stories, nursery rhymes, singing songs and musical movement. They will also enjoy activities in the arts and crafts area helping children to learn how to identify different objects and colours. Each child will have a wide variety of toys to play with all appropriate to their age and stage of development. The home room area is where the children rest after their meals and enjoy quiet and imaginative play. The Croft Day Nursery works in conjunction with parents to teach personal, social and emotional skills through interaction with other children and adults, feeding themselves at mealtimes when ready, they will also receive assistance in becoming toilet trained.
This area is designed for the older children up to the age of five. As part of the foundation stage curriculum we have designed a gentle introduction to a wide range of subjects such as reading, writing, maths, religious festivals and the world around us. Each child receives regular indoor and outdoor activities which include music and movement, dance, drama, construction, running, balancing, ball skills and walks.
The Pre-School room team provide opportunities for your child to develop their language skills by encouraging children to join in at story time. The children also develop their pre-writing skills by painting, drawing, cutting and sticking. Personal, social and emotional skills are developed through interaction with staff and children through the day, especially during meal times where staff encourage children to help in serving themselves and others at mealtimes.
Regular communication will ensure that you receive and understand your child’s individual needs in order to develop their confidence and independence.
The garden is an extension of the nursery rooms. All children have outside time…whatever the time of year, whatever the weather. The children are provided with rain suits if the weather requires it. Our nature school is run throughout the year in the garden and off-site with or trained Forest School Leader.
The Crofts’ staff are all highly trained and qualified in caring for children. The nursery’s staff are commended by Ofsted and Bexley’s Early Year’s Team for their effectiveness in developing and supporting children’s learning.
